As much as we focus on the development of our youth, developing those at the forefront of shaping the character, mindsets and skill sets of our youth is equally important. To support educators in understanding, engaging and equipping their youth, we developed this programme exploring different areas in youth development.
Here are some of the topics that have been covered in previous Equipping Educator Sessions.
INTRODUCTION TO LEADERSHIP FRAMEWORKS
Implementing a leadership framework often requires getting all the educators on board to understand not just the content, but also the intent of leadership development. Introductory sessions are conducted to help staff teams understand various leadership models, and begin employing a unified language in how they engage their students in the journey of character and leadership development.
Mentoring allows educators to build rapport with their students and sharpen educator’s perception of the needs of those they mentor. Through this session, mentors will learn how to guide their students through listening well and developing their strengths.
Education has evolved over the years from the traditional ‘chalk and talk’ forms to more facilitative styles. This requires teachers to be skilled in the art of asking questions. This workshop will equip teachers with skills that enable students to ‘arrive’ at their own learning, making learning more impactful.
UNDERSTANDING YOUTH CULTURE
Motivations, learning inclinations and mindsets differ with each generation. In this workshop, participants will identify strategies to engage youth and be empowered as advocates of character development initiatives in their schools.
STRATEGIES FOR MEANINGFUL CONVERSATIONS
Conversations have the potential to open up the hearts and minds of youths. This workshop helps you understand how to connect with youths, and how to use conversational tools that provoke self-reflection in youths to encourage attitude and behavioural change.
Customisable to meet the specific needs of your institution, our in-house leadership programme is designed to build your young people up in leading themselves and others well.
