Leadership is everyone’s business. It is not a place or position. It is not a rank or title.
When we all exercise leadership — no matter what we do, who we are, or what our title is — we can achieve the extraordinary.

What is The Leadership Challenge®?

To face the obstacles of today and tomorrow, we need leaders at every level. The Leadership Challenge® gives everyone the tools and practices to Model the Way, Inspire a Shared Vision, Challenge the Process, Enable Others to Act, and Encourage the Hearts of those around them. The challenge of empowering everyone with leadership skills is one worth taking on.

Backed by more than 30 years of original research and data from over three million leaders, The Leadership Challenge® approaches leadership as a measurable, learnable, and teachable set of behaviours that can become part of the everyday practice of getting extraordinary things done.

The Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership® Model

The Leadership Challenge® approaches leadership in a set of learnable and teachable behaviours, The Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership®. It is these behaviours that leaders consistently engage in when they are performing at their best and achieving extraordinary results.

How do I measure the effectiveness of leaders?

LEADERSHIP PRACTICES INVENTORY (LPI)

The Leadership Practices Inventory (LPI) is a 360-degree leadership assessment tool that is part of The Leadership Challenge® suite of programmes. They are catered specifically to help people measure their leadership behaviours and take action to improve their effectiveness as a leader.

The inventories allow individuals and observers to rate leaders on the frequencies of the 30 behaviours, providing insights to the individual on areas of growth as well as personal blind spots for better leadership effectiveness.

A student version of the LPI tool is also available as the ‘Student Leadership Practices Inventory’.
