On the 7th of January 2021, we hosted our very first decentralised dinner for our partners, sponsors, guests and friends, with 19 tables spread across 12 different venues with strictly eight diners per table, to celebrate spring and a new beginning. The programme for the night was delivered completely remotely. The guests were guided by a local table host with printed QR codes and instructions to navigate the highlights of the night.
The night began with a speech by the Chairperson of the Charity Dinner Committee, Dr Ann Tan, addressing the close of 2020 and the gratitude we have for all who played a part in enabling Halogen Foundation’s work. This was shortly followed by a series of videos documenting the impact of our youth development programmes.

All our guests of the evening then participated in a Photo-Taking Challenge where all 21 tables competed online to be the party where all the fun and glamour was. The guests then scrambled to capture the sparks of the night, populating our instagram feed with memories hashtagged #HalogenCharityDinner #InspireYoungLeaders. We had two winners for the night. Wouldn’t you agree that they appeared to have had the most fun at their party?
The celebratory night concluded with one last surprise with a closing message from our CEO Ivy Tse, alongside instructions to unravel the surprise in the giant gift box in each of their dining rooms. All in all, the charity dinner raised close to S$540,000, including a 20% matching grant from the TOTE Board.
