What are the key dates interested applicants need to take note of?
  • Monday, 24 March to Friday, 4 April 2025: Announcement of first-round selection results

How can I make a donation?

Thank you for wanting to contribute to our work! We have a number of platforms for giving, you can head over to halogen.sg/donate or giving.sg to make a one-time or monthly contribution to our cause!

Is my donation to Halogen tax-deductible?

Halogen is a registered Institution of a Public Character (IPC) charity. All donations made will be eligible for tax relief of 2.5 times the donation amount.

Will I receive a tax deduction receipt for my donation?

You will receive a tax-deductible receipt via email upon submission of your donation. ​Donors, upon submission, will receive an acknowledgement of their donation submission, but our finance needs time to process the tax deduction and send a copy via email of the tax exemption receipt within 15 working days. Kindly ensure you have given us a valid email address for us to get back to you!

How are my donations going to be used?

By default, we allocate all donations received to our general fundraising pool for use to fund our leadership, entrepreneurship or mentorship programmes that are fully sponsored for young people. The donation is used for programme logistics, participant material as well as to support manpower costs of running these programmes. 


If you would like your donation to go to a specific programme, do write in to [email protected] to speak to the team about your donation allocation.

Can I donate items or supplies instead of money?

Yes, we are open to donation of In-Kind Items and supplies. To ensure that we have proper use for your donations before taking them in, do write in to our fundraising team at [email protected] to enquire and arrange.

Is my online donation safe?

Our website is secure and ensures the use of the latest technology to encrypt all information during data transmission. To verify that the page requesting your credit card information is secure, the letters “https” rather than “http” should precede the page’s URL and/or there should be an unbroken key or padlock symbol located in the corner of the web browser.

How do I know if my donation is successful?

After you’ve made your donation, you’ll receive an email notification of its status. A donation can be unsuccessful due to a number of reasons. In case of any error, please check if the below applies and do try again.

Availability of Funds:

For credit card transactions, please ensure that your credit card transaction is within any applicable credit card limit. In the case of internet banking (IB) transactions, please ensure adequate funds are in your bank account and that your IB transaction is within any applicable IB transaction limits.

You could also check your internet connection and try again. Technology messes up, sometimes. If the issue persists, please contact us at [email protected]

Is my Personal Data safe?

Halogen takes responsibility to protect your personal data seriously. Your privacy is important to us and we are committed to complying with applicable law, including the Singapore Personal Data Protection Act (No. 26 of 2012). Your data is used only for the purposes of generating tax deduction receipts and sending email updates.

Will I be acknowledged in the Spark Fund Donor Roll?

A cumulative donation of S$1,000 and above in the most recent three financial years are included into the Spark Fund Donor Roll.

In 2015, Halogen Foundation (Singapore) set up the Spark Fund to recognise the contributions made towards our cause of youth development. These contributions are either donations or grants given to us, allowing us to increase our impact amongst youth.

Donor tiers are based on their cumulative contributions over the most recent three financial years at Halogen Foundation (Singapore). The tiers are rolling tallies, with the exception of Spark Honour Hall and Spark Funding Circle.

How do I get registered as a coach or instructor with the Ministry Of Education?

All facilitators and trainers are required to register with the Ministry of Education. For detailed information on how to register yourself with MOE, visit this link.

If I’ve previously applied for the National Young Leaders Fellowship, can I apply again?

Yes! As long as you are within the age range of 15 to 19 years old of the application year, we’d be happy to review applications from applicants who have applied before. You will need to submit a new application as there are new questions in this year’s application form.

Do I need to be a Singaporean Citizen?

No, however do note that all events are held in Singapore. In most instances, you will be required to participate in the events in-person.

What kind of leaders are you looking for?

What are the eligibility requirements for the Fellowship?

Applicants must be between the ages of 15 to 19 years old in the year they apply for the Fellowship.

What is included in the Fellowship?

Guidance in crafting and pursuing a personalised impact plan to leverage on Halogen Foundation and the Fellowship to make the most of this programme, taking yourself, your leadership, and the impact you make to the next level.

Participation in a national cohort of leaders to exchange views and opinions on social issues.

Exposure to opportunities provided by Halogen Foundation, such as mentoring programmes and featured speaking engagements.

Connect with established leaders, speakers, and other like-minded young leaders to broaden your leadership perspectives and horizons.

Opportunity for individual coaching and mentoring to help you develop your impact plan.
Accelerate your social projects that create a positive impact in our society, with the support from our dedicated team at Halogen Foundation.

What happens after submitting my application?

Firstly, you will receive a confirmation email as to whether you have cleared the first round of screening to go on to the Assessment Form selection stage. Thereafter, you will be notified via email on the results and successful applicants will move on to the Panel Interview selection stage.

How are the Fellows selected?

Fellows are selected based on the scores accumulated from each selection stage. Applicants must commit to and complete all selection stages:

  1. Submission of an Application Form

The first step is to submit your application via this online form. If you have a referral or a nomination code, please key that code at this stage

  1. Submission of Assessment Form

The next round consists of a virtual assessment where applicants are required to submit a 1-minute video and 3 short essays detailing their past experiences.

  1. 20-minute Panel Interview

Shortlisted applicants will be scheduled for an individual interview with a panel comprising of Halogen Foundation’s curated panel of interviewers.

  1. Leadership Trials

Selected applicants from the Panel Interview will proceed to the next selection
stage, the Leadership Trials. The Leadership Trials is a half-day engagement, where leaders are placed in teams to work through team challenges and focus group discussions.

How many Fellows will be selected?

Up to 40 Fellows will be selected to join the National Young Leaders Fellowship 2025.

What is the time commitment required for the Fellowship?

The Fellowship is not a full-time commitment, but active and engaged participation is key to creating a meaningful Fellowship experience.

The full programming of the five-day Fellowship Induction Programme, dates to be announced.

During the Induction Programme, Fellows will:

Learn About Self

Be more intentional in your development through goal setting workshops that will bring about an awareness of your strengths and weaknesses, beliefs, and blind spots.

Learn About Community Issues

Throughout the five days, you will participate in various experiential learning journeys, workshops, plenaries, and hands-on community projects to learn more about the social issues of Singapore and her needs that lie beneath the surface.

Learn About Others

In open discussions and sharings, you will gain new perspectives through conversations with fellow peer leaders, and build a strong support network with each other.

Commit 3 – 4 hours each month to a Fellows’ monthly gathering – July 2025 to March 2026

The dates of the gathering will be coordinated according to the Fellows’ collective schedule.

What will I be doing as a volunteer?

As a Facilitator, you will be joining our frontline team in delivering impactful programmes to youths we serve, with your main role being guiding and facilitating students through entrepreneurship programmes in a classroom setting. For more information about being a Facilitator, visit this link.

As a Trainer, you’ll be taking the lead in programme delivery, with your main role being guiding and delivering content to students in leadership and entrepreneurship programmes in a classroom setting. For more information about being a Trainer, visit this link.

As a Mentor, you’ll play a crucial role in nurturing the next generation of leaders. Your involvement will allow you to interact with youth, share knowledge, guide and encourage youths in their leadership and entrepreneurship journeys. As a Project-Based Volunteer, the scope of work varies according to the project. Additional information about your duties and expectations will be relayed as the project commences.

What’s the level of commitment required from volunteers?

The commitment level varies across the different ways to volunteer. 

As a Facilitator, you will be working with us on an ad-hoc basis. However, we strongly encourage you to see the programme though, journeying alongside the students.

As a Mentor, the commitment level varies according to the programme. Commitment levels  range from an ad-hoc 2.5-3 hour mentorship session, or an extended 6 month mentoring programme.
As a Project-Based Volunteer, the commitment level varies with the scope of the project.
